After having a full on guilt-trip on not updating this blog, and with the angelic and evil me having a cat fight over the definition of good time management, i'm here finali.....just to say i'm alive, kicking and struggling all the same in the blogging world once more.
Getting back on track to normal life is always a toughie for me esp after a great time away. So how was our holiday? Absolutely freezing during the day but as warm as a fresh toast at night. Having a fire place in our chalet kept the place nice and warm 24/7 but of cos, we can't possibly lug the entire fire place with us when we go for our walk in the mornings. Anyways, it was great fun experiencing some real cold (which isn't as cold as i imagined to be), walking in a ever changing landscape environment, roasting Bunya nuts in the fire (they were reali yum!! its taste its like a huge pine nut except not as oily, and has the texture of a chestnut), making smores (plain biscuits with toasted mushmallow and chocolate chip filling) on a cold night and the best of all, dipping into a steaming jacuzzi pool at the end of every day to relax our sore muscles.
The Bunya mountains retreat area is not as popular as other mountainous holiday retreat i.e Maleny, Eummandi etc....as its more inland compared to those mentioned. Other than this little retreat which has only one convenient store and 2 small restaurant which provide normal aussie fare at ridiculously high prices, the next big town (i.e Kingroy) is like a good 45mins drive away. And Kingroy is not exactly the nicest place to visit on a holiday since it reminded me of Bogan- ville (think unkempt, old, dirty and a bit weird when i say bogan). But the beauty of it being not too popular is that, this place is more isolated most of the time of the year (except for holiday season) and the civilisation bug still has ages to fully invade this little piece of haven.
We had this little 2 storey place that was pitched up on a hill so that we get a nice view of neighboring townships, a spacious kitchen stocked to the brim with baking equipments, gigantic fluffy lounges that nearly engulfed Tasha, a modern master bedroom that came with an ensuite and a 2 person spa. It was more than i can ask for but came 5 in the evening, there were millions (okay maybe just a flock) of colorful wild birds on the veranda waiting to be fed seeds that the owner thoughtfully provided. They were so tame to the extent of being brave enough to feed from our hands, skillfully perched themselves on our shoulders, head and arms. In the middle of it, i felt like a bird feeding plate for a while. =P Moving on,there were always wallabies (kangeroo look-alike but smaller in built), some with little joey (little wallabies), feeding on surrounding and our lawn. It just seem like living in a safari. All of the wild life just seemed to get on with their life undisturbed by us homo-sapiens.
Out of everything, Tasha probably enjoyed splashing around in the jacuzzi every night. She would attempt to grasp the little bubbles, dazed by the glistering mental tap, chewing on her petite foot or just lie back n enjoy floating with the help of our arms of cos !
It was hard having to come back to real life again but then again, its real life isnt it? Will post pics on our holiday soon. Cheers!!
