Sandy, my cousin in law, threw an awesome 21st birthday last saturday, 27 days after her actual birthday. Reason being, all her "relos" (aussie slang for relatives) are always such busy people and got to be booked two weeks in advance. Being Sandy, she only decided to hold a dinner party just for her family only a week before her actual birthday. At least, she got most of her relos there that night.
Auntie Mary (Sandy's mum) is such an incredible cook and loving mum. She went to great lengths devoting an entire week before the party painstakingly prepared all the dishes. For appetizers, the varieties of olives, dips, fruits, cheese and crackers platters had everyone scrambling for a bite of the brie, a taste of kalamata olive with lavesh bread etc. Of course, as i'm getting to the main point of my story, she had already laid out dinner in the next room on a sturdy wooden table. Every single space was taken up with tender slices roast chook (aussie slang for chicken), chunky meat slices, salads of all sorts (aussies are into salads during summer time), fat and juicy curried meatballs and the list of food goes on. If both Josh and i to finish this amount of food by ourselves, we probably take an entire to do so. YUp, its that much.
Before everyone dig into the scrumptious feast, we gathered around to pray. With Tasha in my arms, I lowered my head with reverence. A few seconds after everyone in the room ended the prayer with "AMEN!" in unison, our precious angel uttered "Amen!" like she did it everyday.
And not just that, whenever we pray together as a family, the little baby who use to struggle to pull her hands away from ours actually learnt to keep still and wait patiently till we finished praying.
How amazing it is for me to realise that at such a tender age, the Lord does work in the hearts of babies. Soli Deo Gloria.
