My little baby is going to be 2 this Friday. Time just flashes by since the day I held her in my arms and stare right into her gray eyes. Since then, she had grown heaps and her eyes had turn from misty gray to take on gorgeous shades of gray, brown and green.....just like her father. From being a helpless babe, she is now an independent toddler who is able to find amusement in simple things. Though parenthood was not was easy initially, it got easier with both of us adjusting and learning to love one another.
Anyways, I have been squeezing my brain juices dry thinking of what to make for her birthday. yes, I know she did share a bath tub cake with Megan. But, thanks to my mum who had invited my relatives over for a small party, I have to come up with something. Since I got into baking, I just can't bring myself to buy anyone a cake. It is just too commercialised for my liking and it also gives me an opportunity to challenge myself.
Its actually quite tricky for someone as particular as me. Once I found my comfort zone, working outside of it always requires heaps of time to adjust and make the best of the situation. From the few recent baking sessions I had over the last month, I realised that night time is the best time for me to bake. There's no other buzz in the kitchen other for me, no annoying comments, no constant nagging, no abrupt interuptions etc. That's like my beloved kitchen I have back home in Brissy. My own oven, my own set of measuring tools, my own way of cleaning, my own system of organization........
But for the sake of this little girl, I grited my teeth and am determine to create something special for her. She wanted bubbles and butterflies this time and with fingers crossed, i hope to incoporate it into her cake if not her party. For now....i should retire for a big day of baking tomorrow and do keep checking in for updates on T's party. =) Ciaoz!
