Driving woes and joys .....

I am probably the oldest person amongst you guys who is still on my learner's licence! Both my younger brother and sister have already been driving for more than 1 or 2 years. Me........its a long story why I was completely unmotivated to get mine till now.

I have always relied on Josh or occasionally my in laws to drive me around. But recently, I have got to the point of choosing to stay at home cos I'm sick of being so reliant on others. I would rather take the train any day which is a 15 minutes walk away. However, I have to admit that taking public transport here in Brissy is not the fastest or easier form of transport esp when u have to lug around a toddler with you. And then, Josh have to leave me for another 16 days for another military training out in the desert someway this Sept!

Good news is that our goal, yup its not just mine this time but also my "instructor's", is to have me Ps by then. So i would be able to drive Tashy around, go for picnics at the gardens, walks in the city, visit friends, have a coffee (baby chino for T) at a cozy cafe etc. (Yes, I have it all planned)

In fact, just the other day, Josh agreed to let me drive our car out with Beck. I was so taken aback that he did it with no hesitation to me driving the car without feeling the need to supervise me. Not so sure if any of you out there have been taught to drive by your husband. Maybe its just our personalities. We are just complete opposite to each other.

When we first started, we often end up getting all upset with each other. Josh wanted me to view him as my instructor and nothing else. And me, I find it so hard not to take each critisim and comment personally. Josh can get a little worked up (okay more than a little) whenever we encounter any near car crash/ scratch situation. And me, I do my best not to crash/ scratch the car as much as possible but come on, I'm still a learner. Can't expect me to be perfect right? When have u seen a instructor's training car scratch or dent free?

I have to say as much as it can get frustrating many times, it can also be very rewarding too when J starts to approve of my driving. Knowing J's high expectations in regards to driving, I go estatic whenever he says, " You did well, I felt safe the whole time."

These my driving woes n joys I share.....

ohman WEIER hahaha. you found someone who understands .. ME! haha.

cause weiyong (or yongyong as u prefer it! haha) taught me on L's and we ALWAYS end up yelling at each other in the car. and once we're parked & at our destination..he'd revert back to his more normal self hahaha.

oops but im still on Ls too.. too lazy to convert also! the australian system kinda makes you wanna stay on Ls forever for security haha.

Skinnymum: I prob have not attained that state of enlightenment yet. =P

Jem: lolz!!! yes thats what Josh does too. But i find it so hard to detach from the arguement so instantly. So it often end with him trying to pacify me and me vowing to him that " i will not touch that stupid wheel in my whole life again". Of cos that often does not last since I really want my independence. So are u planning to take ur test soon? how does it work over there? I have to do 100 hours before i can take my P's.
