Bubble time fun!!!!

Both gurls always enjoy a bubble bath time together. Both are such good friends that though they do not share the same birthday, they still insisted on having a joint birthday celebration together. It took me a whole 5 hours to assemble this cake in the wee hours of the morning but it was totally worth the lack of sleep when I saw how both their faces lit up with joy and delight. =)

Tash was very much intrigued with all the little bubbles and figurines.

Being really particular with what Tashy eats, I made a wholegrain banana and blueberry cake with light cream cheese frosting as the base of the bath tub.

To re-create a personalised bath tub cake, Tasha's favorite bath toys were re-created in moulding paste which she simply adored.

Besides being my first attempt with fondant, the weather near the beach was very humid and hot most of the time and it definitely did slow me down. It was a disaster trying to cover the cake at first, since I do not have a proper rolling pin to ensure even thickness throughout. I nearly pulled all my hair out of frustration having the fondant split open a million times while it was lifted up to cover the cake due to the unevenness of it. I am really so very thankful that the end result turned out better than I expected. Josh even chipped in by helping me make the tiles and did whatever that needed helping which was really appreciated. One thing I've learnt for sure is fondant and humidity do not make good partners. In fact, to prove that fact, my fondant covered cake started to melt a couple hours after as surrounding climatic temperature and humidity rise. It was a good thing that it actually went with the bath theme and seemed more like water being splashed out of the bath tub (as described by the gurls).

You can observe some "water" coming out the right hand side of the bath tub...

Anyways, do keep in tune for one more cake and then the promised recipes......
