Oh boy!! its another long long time since i have blogged on something new last. There's always seemed to be lots of stuff happening in life but i guess its also due to my poor time management skills. Anyways this is the latest update of my life right at this period of time.....
i'm currently working at this japanese bar/resturant, SIX, at Raffles place located at Standard Chartered building every mon to fre from 11-9. The hours are quite weird but thats just normal for most resturants. The best thing about this place is the small management team which consists only of a manager, Ian, a supervisor, Ben and two other part timers (including me). Everyone on the team is male except for two of us part timers. And so the same goes for cooks and chefs. There's only like 4 of them. So everyone knows each other but that doesnt mean that there isnt politics going on here. Everywhere one goes in the working world, politics are always bound to occur. So same goes down here. But i shall not dwell upon the matter since we part timers try to keep out of all sort of trouble as much as possible. Down at this resturant, we were taught how to serve people in the most efficient yet still gracious manner, how to prepare "dancing" latte (yeah, you got to dance while preparing the latte...belive it or not =P) and other types of coffee on a $6,000 coffee machine, clean up the machine, pack sugarbowls nicely, cashiering etc. Tho' most of the chefs here are quite pervertic (they have this signal that they sound to each other whenever they saw a hot babe walking pass...sick), they are pretty generous when it comes to preparing food for us. Think this is the only time of my life that i got to have sashimi almost for everyday of the week as dinner. They are so nice to remember what you like and always prepare it whenever they are in a good mood (which is most of the time). Things can get pretty stressful during lunch time when heaps of brokers and bankers steadily flow into the restuarant. Besides that, life at SIX is quite relaxing, sometimes boring but still enjoyable taking into account that we have a really fabulous waterfront view from SIX. Sometimes, we can even catch newly weds decked out in their bridal attire having their wedding shots done by the river. Hmm...quite a nice change compared to the normal botanic gardens setting.
Now to the biggest thing that had happened over the last few weeks that had kept me so ultra busy most of the time. Actually, my parents have been discussing about having us married at a time where the entire family can fly down to attend my wedding. Finally after many changes, we have offically set our wedding date to be on the 7th Dec 2005. Yup, in His most perfect timing and will, we are getting married this coming december. I would be heading up to Brissy in another two months time (22th Nov, Lord willing). Right now,the next 2 months will be jam packed with wedding preparations and packing of my stuff to be sent down. We are actually planning to only come back during our winter holidays next year July but dad insisted we must also come back for Chinese New Year every year without fail. So Lord willing, we would be back in late Jan to early Feb next year and hopefully you guys would finally be able to meet (not my fiance but) husband by then. Due to the considerations of my different family members, there's no way to have a late jun/july wedding. Thus, since we both are very much convicted and assured that marriage is God's will for us, we very much are ready and looking forward to it.
Yes guys, i have to agree that this seemed to fast and sudden for you guys to take it. Life would definitely change in marriage and there are more responsibilites to take up and even more if the Lord is gracious to bless us with kids. There are indeed lots to look forward to in married life actually. Some sees the commitment involved as a form of bondage and a sense of loss of freedom. However, we see marrying each other as liberating and joyous. Soon we would be able to go camping without a chapereon, instead of attempting to drive home after driving a little way too far on a day trip out we could simply camp out somewhere overnight without having to consider wheather if we would stumble anyone. Of course marriage is so much more than this... I would very much love to write more but i figured that keeping this too long as draft won;t be too good since i'm supposed to update this like ages ago. Sorry abt it guys....hope you understand. =) Happy thoughts!!
